KAWS - 808s and Heartbreak cover art
artwork by KAWSThis is the special-edition cover art for Kanye's 808s and Heartbreak album done by Brooklyn-based artist KAWS. KAWS began his artistic career as a graffiti artist growing up in New Jersey. After graduating from the School of Visual Arts in New York in 1996, KAWS became an animator for Disney and then went on to design and produce limited edition vinyl toys. Many of his subsequent art exhibitions and collaborative projects involve playing with cartoon imagery, either transforming a recognizable cartoon figure or producing his own forms. KAWS' unique approach and style is evident in the 808s cover art. I love the cartoon background that plays on the theme of love and heartbreak; it looks like an old-school graffiti mural with all the different colors and shapes. Very clean.
