Lupe Fiasco

I can't say enough about Lupe. I consider him to be one of (if not THE) most talented MCs in hip hop right now. Lupe's wordplay is simply untouchable; He possesses a sophisticated vocabulary and lyrical eloquence, but he is never one dimensional. He touches on a variety of subject material - ranging from his upbringing in the South Side of Chicago to his mixed feelings about his own superstardom to politics and social issues - and he can adapt his flow to a variety of rhyme patterns. In short, he is a beast!

In the near future I will do a much longer, in-depth profile on Lupe. For now, check the links below if you need proof. I've posted a selection of Lupe tracks. The first highlights his wordplay ("The Pen & The Needlz"), the second displays his intellectual depth ("Dumb It Down") and the last one ("Runnin' Freestyle") is a rare Lupe track that has Lupe spitting over the "Runnin'" beat - produced by Hi-Tek, off The Game's
The Documentary. (And for those of you with a keen musical ear, "The Pen & The Needlz" samples "Mercy, Mercy Me" by Marvin Gaye)

Holla at ya boy.
